Encinitas California is Blessed With 6 Miles of Gorgeous Beaches – Eleven of Them! Whether It’s Surfing, Swimming, Scuba Diving, Boogie-boarding, Sunning, Reading a Book, Jogging, Volley-balling or Just Basking in the Serenity of a Secluded Beach, Encinitas Has it All.

Fitness enthusiasts will get a great workout at Stone Steps Beach. I  ran these stairs 6 times each morning for several years and was in the best shape of his life.  These killer stairs lead down from the bluffs to the ocean offer awesome views to enjoy while you huff and puff.  At high tide the ocean beats at the bottom of the stairs, at low tide, the beach is wide and sandy.

Swami’s Surf Beach, forever immortalized in the Beach Boy’s Surfin’ USA, is just 6 blocks south of Moonlight Beach on historic Highway 101 and still draws the finest surfers in the world on a daily basis.   Great scuba diving is just offshore from Swami¹s at the Encinitas Marine Life Refuge, our  underwater park.

Moonlight Beach is a 4 minute walk from the Inn at Moonlight Beach. Stone Steps Beach, Beacon’s and Grandview beaches are north of Moonlight, all within walking distance or a brief drive up Neptune Avenue.

You can learn to surf by taking a class at Beacon’s Beach from world-famous Kahuna Bob, an icon in Encinitas.

Moonlight Beach is often called “the beach with everything” because it has lifeguard towers, a kids playground, big parking lots, play areas, fire-rings, showers, restrooms, beach rentals and a snack bar… and, of course… a wide sandy beach!

Sunset is a special time at Moonlight, Stone Steps and Beacon’s Beaches.  Locals (surfers, beach-goers, children, bicycle-riders, young lovers, business men and women) all gather at the beaches for every sunset.  It’s a lovely ritual at a special time of day.

Dolphins and whales are regularly seen, especially from the “high-bluff” beach entrances at Swami’s, Stone Steps and Beacon’s.   If you’re lucky, you’ll see the famous “green flash” as the sun takes its final dip into the vast Pacific Ocean.

After sunset, take a romantic moonlit walk on the beach or simply relax on the front porch of the Inn At Moonlight Beach and sip a glass of wine, enjoying the evening twilight over the ocean.

For a great place to stay in Encintas, check this link: Encintas Bed and Breakfast. We prefer  the delightful Bed and Breakfast Inn overlooking the Pacific Ocean  http://www.innatmoonlightbeach.com/

Zakynthos, in the English term is known as Zante. It is the Ionian Islands’ third largest which covers for an area of about 406 kilometers squared. The shape of this island is like an uneven triangle, which the base is formed by Laganas bay, and the peak is formed by the Schinari Cape at the north of the island. Zante, as sometimes called, is located in the southern part of the largest islands in the Ionian Sea. It is particularly washed by the Ionian Sea and is particularly located at the north west of the Peloponnese. As for the island’s climate, it has far more better condition than the other Ionian Islands since its average temperature is about 115C in wintertime and 270C in summer.
The island’s west coasts are rough and steep with many bays and rocky beaches while on the east side, you can usually find its agricultural production. Due its mild climate and plentiful rainfall in winter, Zakynthos has dense vegetation. The island has principal products like currants, grapes, olive oil and citrus fruit. You can also find wild plants, vines and coniferous trees in the island.
When summer arrives, the sea lily blooms in Zakynthos. The scent is so magnificent that it explains the reason why people have named the island Fioro of Levante meaning, Flower of the East. Moreover, the island is also very rich in fauna. That is why caretta-caretta turtle usually comes in the sandy beaches of Lagana’s bay of Gerakas as well as the other beaches to reproduce and hatch its eggs.
Also, the beaches in the island are popular for its crystal clear waters which are shallow and have sandy coasts. That is why beaches here are usually swarmed by tourists.
One of the popular beaches is located near Vassilikos. The beaches here are famed for its crystal waters and golden sands. The place can be found approximately 15 kilometers from Chora, which is the island’s capital. The good thing when visiting to Vassilikos is that you can choose the beach of your liking. You may either visit the beaches of Mavratzi, Porto zoro, Porto Roma, Banana, Gerakas (which is known to be the best beach on the island as well as the main reproduction area of the caretta-caretta turtle), and the Agios Nikolaos. Yet, if you want to go to a beach where it is still untouched by growing tourism, you can always visit the Sekania and Dafni. To visit the said two untouched islands, you can go to Xirokastelo which is shortly before Vassilikos and follow the road leading there.
Another yet impressive beach can be found for about two kilometers away from chora, is the Laganas Bay. It has an impressive stretch of 9 kilometers sandy beach, fine sand, sand dunes and shallow waters. This bay as well as the neighboring beaches of Kalamaki and Agios Sostis has invited a lot of tourists during the summer. Furthermore, tourists can also visit yet another beautiful beach of Porto Koukla, Arkadanos, Limni Keriou and Tartarouga, which are located at the base of Marathias Cape.
Also, if you are a lover of savage beauty, you can always visit the west side of the island which is the place for magnificent beaches for swimming. When you are in the village of Agios Leon and after walking through its impressive wild landscape, you will most likely see the rocky voes of Limnionas and Roxa. With its cool, deep waters, the natural beauty of the scenery itself is truly majestic.
Moreover, to visit the most beautiful beaches of Greece, go to the beach of Navagio or shipwreck. This beach is known to be the ornament of the island and can be reached by taking a little boat from Porto Vromi.
Zakynthos is really an island full of beautiful beaches. You can always visit the organized beaches of the National Tourism Organization or the EOT and the place called Tsilivi, which is known for its beautiful sandy beach. The island also houses the beaches of Amoudi, Amboula and Alykes.
And when you follow the road to Orthonies, you can find the Xygia and Makry Gialos, which is famous for its deep waters and wonderful pebbled beach. You can also find the popular Galazi Spilea of the Blue Cave when you take a short boat ride from here.
In addition to this, you can also visit the organized beaches of the National Tourism Organization or EOT.

Nova Scotia, with its over 4100 miles of shoreline, has more than a few beaches.  In fact, the Canadian province has more than 120 of them.

But not all the beaches are “people friendly.”

Nova Scotia’s beaches can be roughly divided into two types: too cold to swim, or warm enough to swim. The beaches on the southern coast as well as tlhose on the bay of Fundy, have proven themselves to be too cold for the average person to swim in. This part of the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the Fundy Bay, are both under the influence of the cold Labrador Current as it makes its way south, keeping the waters relatively cold.

On the other hand, the Northumberland strait or central section of Nova Scotia, the part of the province that faces Price Edward Island, is under the direct influence of the warm water discharge of the St. Lawrence Rver and Bay., keeping the waters relatively warm.

As a  result, the south shore and Fundy area beaches are great for strolling along the shoreline, either collecting bits of driftwood or sea shells. The sandy beaches found here are usually unsupervised and have few amenities available.  To name such a  beach would be Scots Bay Beach. This cold-area beach in the Bay of Fundy is terrific for those rock collectors among us.This particular beach is noted for its large cache of agates and small cyads. Nearby is Cape Blomidon Provincial Park, with its exposed red clay cliffs and expansive views of the Bay of Fundy. But you cannot find too may swimmers here…the water is too cold!

Now let’s go to the South Shore. Just outside the town of Bridgewater you will find the popular Rissers Beach. This Nova Scotia beach has a kilometer-long (0.6 mile) stretch of white sand, and a nearby boardwalk for walking through the salt marsh. Because of its popularity, this beach offers plenty of parking and even has a canteen and change houses nearby! Two campgrounds at the nearby provincial park, complete the popularity of this beach. You will find most guests strolling along the beach, or excitedly looking for seashells or driftwood, though. The ocean water is still too cold!

Now for a visit to a beach where you can actually go swimming. And that’s the warmer waters of the Northumberland beaches that are located by the Nothumberlan Strait.

A popular warm-water beach would be Melmerby Beach, or simply “The Merb”. Located about a 20 minute car ride from New Glasgow, it is a  2 km (1.25 mi) supervised sandy beach with a boardwalk.   Though there’s no camping, there is a canteen, showers and picnic tables. This is a highly popular spot, and can get crowded on the weekeds.

This is just a sampling of the varieties of Nova Scotia’s beaches. From the uncrowded, cool water beaches of the Atlantic, to the popular swimming spots of Northumberland Shore, Nova Scotia  has it all.

Located in Okalossa County, Florida, Fort Walton Beach is a fishing and beach resort phenomenon. Named one of the Top 100 places to live, it is also teeming with visitors all spring break and summer long. Fort Walton Beach has 24 miles of powder soft beaches to walk upon while you enjoy things such as the sun set, fishing, swimming in the ocean or catching some waves. Families can enjoy one of the beachside parks and the elders can hit up one of the many golf courses for an 18 hole game. There’s so much to do, and what there is to do is only limited by your imagination, so follow me as I describe to you some of the places you can enjoy and leave your mind to wonder.
Your vacation destination is here, or perhaps it’s a place you’d like to live? Once you visit, you won’t want to leave! Let’s start off with the beaches, and as I mentioned before, there are 24 miles of beach stretching east to west. Rated the one of the Top 10 safest beaches in the Country, this beach allows jogging, swimming, sand castle building, tanning, fishing, wind and kite surfing as well as board surfing. It’s the perfect place to kick back and get some rays while the sun is setting on the west coast. Along the beaches, there are four renovated beach front parks and six mini parks, all including showers, benches, bathrooms and ADA accessibility.
It’s time to get some food, as you will need energy to continue to enjoy these extensive activities. The best place you can head for the most variety is the Wayside County Park, also know as, The Boardwalk. Facilities at the Boardwalk sit on the largest stretch of public beach in the area. It includes a 400-seat seafood restaurant, a two-level beach club, a dueling piano night club, a children’s playground, beach volleyball, 3 beach accesses with showers, 6 public pavilions, picnic tables and public restrooms. Two places to eat that will catch your eye are The Black Pearl and The Crab Trap, both specializing in sea food, but also offering a variety of steaks, burgers, salads and sandwiches. In the mood for Japanese style sea food and steaks? Then head a bit more towards the mainland to Okinawa Japanese Steak and Seafood House for the best in shrimp, steak, chicken and scallops, all under the roof of this Four Star establishment! How about some French-Italian-Thai style meals? Then stay beach-side for Mulhollow’s Bistro 215, where the name “fusion cuisine” comes into play with a wide assorted menu to please all three tastes; tastes such as seafood on sandwiches, seafood on salads, seafood sauteed and blackened, Thai and Italian style pastas, as well as throwing a grilled to perfection steak on almost anything that you can think of as well.
Well if you don’t want to wine and dine, how about catching your own dinner? Besides the beaches, there is a little, or should I say, rather long secret I should tell you about. If you’re on the beach, you shouldn’t miss it. It’s the Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier, and “Large fish are what we’re famous for”, say the local fishermen. The pier originally opened in 1972, at a grand total length of 962 that stretched out into the Gulf of Mexico; however, it was rebuilt and reopened in 1998, with a new length of 1262 feet. This new length allows for a chance at catching even larger fish that prefer the deeper water farther off shore. The size and number of fish caught here compete with and have even beaten fish caught off shore in boats around the same area. Here’s the deal about this place: you don’t have to bring a thing with you! So if you’re on vacation and didn’t bring the rod and reel or a bucket for bait, you can rent them all here for $7-8 depending on the size of the fishing rod. But if fishing isn’t your thing, then perhaps site seeing is. Head out to the end of the pier to see 8 miles of ocean, east, west and south for 180 degrees in all three directions. Come watch Dolphins jump; see fishermen catch tarpon weighing over 100 pounds, as well as tuna, king mackerel, cobia, and dolphin. Watch in awe pelicans and seagulls beg for food or steal a fisherman’s catch; spot the boats floating around or see surfers from the back as they catch monster waves off of the beach. If that fisherman’s catch begins to look good enough to eat raw because you’re starving, then don’t worry, there are plenty of snacks and drinks all located on the pier.
Our last stop will be for the nightlife. Stick around the beach for an awesome night at The Swamp, featuring live music from local and nationally recognized bands like Hoobastank, Trapt, Salavia, Fuel, Cracker and Papa Roach. An enormous dance floor makes it an endless night as the live DJ’s place dance, trance, techno, pop, hip-hop and R&B. Drink it up and dance it down, for what a better way to end the night here at Fort Walton Beach, than to dance it all away.
